To mark the 18th anniversary of the passing of actress Choi Jin-sil, her son, singer Choi Hwan-hee (stage name Ben Bliss), Choi Jin-sil’s mother, and fans gathered to remember the late star.
The 2nd marked the 18th year since Choi Jin-sil passed away. According to NEWS1, the late actress’s mother, Choi Hwan-hee, and fans gathered at her gravesite in Gapsan Park in Seojong-myeon, Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province, on the morning of that day to hold a memorial service.
Fans who visited the gravesite early in the morning cleaned the area in front of the tombstone before the memorial service began and placed fresh flowers there. They also decorated the gravesite with framed photos showing Choi Jin-sil during her lifetime.
Subsequently, Choi Jin-sil’s mother and Choi Hwan-hee arrived at the cemetery. Choi Jin-sil’s mother greeted her daughter by saying, "Jin-sil-ah, have you been well?" She then looked at a photo of Choi Jin-sil smiling and remarked, "You are always smiling like that," revealing her longing for her daughter.
Choi Hwan-hee brought flowers and coffee, which the late actress had enjoyed during her lifetime, evoking a sense of emotional weight. He expressed his gratitude by saying, "It is truly heartwarming that fans visit every year as if they were family and remember my mother. I am deeply grateful."
He continued, "In just two years, it will already be the 20th anniversary, so thank you for continuing to bring flowers. I do not know how I can repay your kindness." He added, "I hope she will be remembered as a national actress for a long time," leaving those present moved.
Choi Jin-sil passed away suddenly on October 2, 2008. She was 40 years old at the time of her death. Since then, her family and acquaintances have held memorial services every year on the anniversary of her passing to remember her.
After debuting as a specially recruited MBC talent in 1988, Choi Jin-sil appeared in dramas such as "Stars in My Heart" and "Rose-Colored Life," earning the titles of "national actress" and "lover of all."
