Deep Pine, a company specializing in industrial AI platforms based on Spatial AI, has partnered with Hanwha Systems and the automotive division of SM Namseon Aluminum to drive AI transformation (AX) at logistics sites in the defense and automotive industries.
On the 3rd, Deep Pine announced that it was selected as the lead institutional investor for the 'Industrial AI Agent Technology Development Project for Solving Industrial Site Problems,' a project promoted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT). The project will run until next year with a total budget of 4 billion won.
The consortium participating in this project includes Deep Pine, Gumi Electronics and Information Technology Research Institute, Hanwha Systems, and the automotive division of SM Namseon Aluminum. Deep Pine will lead the technology development, while Hanwha Systems and SM Namseon Aluminum will conduct field trials at their manufacturing sites to verify the feasibility of applying AI agents in defense and automotive logistics.
The target industrial AI agent is a system that combines smart glasses, vision AI, large language models (LLMs), and edge computing. The AI analyzes on-site data to intelligently manage the entire logistics process—from inventory control to picking and shipping—and supports workers' decision-making.
Workers can check real-time information such as outbound materials, quantities, and work sequences via smart glasses. Vision AI immediately alerts them to any errors, improving accuracy. Additionally, an LLM-based voice conversation function allows users to query necessary information without interrupting their work. Considering the security requirements of on-site environments, data processing is conducted internally using edge computing rather than external cloud services.
During the field trial phase, Hanwha Systems will verify automated warehouse layout optimization based on AI analysis and methods to reduce picking time and error rates using smart glasses. At SM Namseon Aluminum's automotive division site, the company plans to improve inventory accuracy through rack tracking, automatic QR code generation, and cross-verification with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), while also building a production planning linkage simulation system.
Kim Hyun-bae, CEO of Deep Pine, stated, "Through field trials at defense sites where security and accuracy are critical, and automotive manufacturing sites requiring speed and flexibility, we will develop a general-purpose industrial AI agent." He added, "We aim to expand the technology and operational experience gained from this project across all high-reliability industrial logistics sectors, including manufacturing, shipbuilding, and heavy industry."
