"Memory Semiconductors Are No Longer a Cyclical Industry"
Park Jeong-ho, Advisor to Global Korea Insights (GK Insights) (former Vice Chairman of SK Hynix), who attended the "Dialogue between GK Insights Advisors and the Future Advisory Board" held on the 24th at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, stated that the long-standing cycle of ups and downs that has dominated the memory semiconductor market for decades is now effectively disappearing.
At this event, Advisor Park noted that with the full-scale advancement of the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution and the establishment of sovereign AI, memory semiconductors are undergoing a complete transformation from simple price-volatile commodities to essential national and corporate infrastructure.
Advisor Park emphasized, "In the infrastructure-building phase transitioning into the AI era, the role of memory semiconductors has changed in scale compared to the past," adding, "Memory is no longer a simple cyclical industry that repeats booms and busts as it did in the past."
Advisor Park also stated, "There is no need to be anxious about short-term market volatility," predicting that "along with the expansion of the AI ecosystem, the memory semiconductor industry will continue its long-term and sustained growth." This dialogue between GK Insights advisors and the Future Advisory Board marks the third such event, following previous sessions with former LG Vice Chairman Kwon Young-soo and former Mirae Asset Securities Chairman Choi Hyun-man.
Meanwhile, GK Insights was established by Money Today as a think tank inviting experts from various fields to create an environment in South Korea where more "World's Best Companies" can emerge. This dialogue session was organized to enable the GK Insights Future Advisory Board, which includes promising startups, to grow one step further through mentoring from Han Guk-eul (CEO) business leaders.
