LG Electronics has secured a cooling solution supply contract worth a total of 5GW in North America, the world's largest AI (artificial intelligence) data center market. By securing a major order in the cooling sector, which has emerged as a core component of AI infrastructure, the company is accelerating its business strategy to position data centers as a new growth pillar.
LG Electronics' U.S. subsidiary announced on the 5th that it recently signed a long-term supply definitive contract (LTA) for chillers for AI data centers with "AIR Control Concept" (AIR), a North American infrastructure platform company. The company will sequentially supply cooling solutions, including high-efficiency chillers designed to manage heat in AI data centers totaling 5GW.
The industry estimates the total order value to be around 3 trillion won. This represents the largest B2B (business-to-business) contract in LG Electronics' history. According to market research firm Omdia, global data center power capacity is projected to increase by 108GW, from 226GW this year to 334GW next year. In simple terms, the company has secured a large-scale long-term supply opportunity equivalent to 5% of that growth in a single deal.
AIR is an infrastructure platform company covering the entire process from design and construction of AI data centers to public procurement and aftermarket services in North American regions such as the United States and Canada. Through its data center-specialized subsidiary "AMC," it executes large-scale projects and has secured major global data center operators as clients.
Through this contract, LG Electronics has established a foundation for stable supply of large volumes, demonstrating its technological capabilities and supply capacity. The company recently also joined the list of official partners of NVIDIA in the AI data center cooling solution field.
