On the occasion of the group's 74th anniversary of founding, Kim Seung-yeon, Chairman of Hanwha Group, stated, "Only by facing the harsh reality head-on, securing a path to break through, and confronting challenges directly can we prepare for a Hanwha that lasts 100 years and 200 years."
According to Hanwha Group on the 11th, Kim (Chairman) said in an anniversary address delivered to employees on the 9th, "Endless geopolitical conflicts and rapid changes in domestic and international industrial environments are creating numerous difficulties. There is no room for optimism," adding that he made these remarks.
While noting that Hanwha has risen to become the fifth-largest conglomerate in the business world, Kim (Chairman) emphasized, "Our goal is global leadership. We must become leaders who create the future in each of our business areas." He further urged three fundamental attitudes: a sense of ownership, selection and concentration, and a spirit of challenge.
He stated, "Only leaders who do not shirk responsibility when businesses face difficulties or organizations encounter crises, but instead take the lead in finding a way forward, can be entrusted with our future." He explained, "In an increasingly complex international situation and multi-layered structure of competition and cooperation, we must accurately set targets and rapidly deploy our capabilities."
He further emphasized, "We must possess both strategic flexibility and strong driving force," adding, "Only then can we avoid being limited to short-term business results, actively respond to complex risks, and become leaders who create the future."
He also stated that securing AI (artificial intelligence)-based technological competitiveness, which is currently being pursued at the group level, must be advanced based on these fundamental attitudes. Kim (Chairman) said, "The foundation of the space and aviation sector—where we have announced an investment plan of 55 trillion won for satellites, integrated air defense systems, and advanced engines—is national defense AI capability." He added, "In the financial, machinery, and service sectors as well, only with the support of AI-based technology can we become true leaders in name and reality."
He also stated, "Safety is an indispensable condition," adding, "No value can take precedence over safety and life. Creating a workplace where all employees and their families can feel at ease is a basic quality and key task for leaders."
Kim (Chairman) said, "I believe our Hanwha DNA is that core asset. The indomitable 'spirit of challenge' that allowed us to surpass the limits set by others in fields such as defense and maritime is exactly that." He concluded, "I am confident that together with you, Hanwha can create a future from the center of the world that guarantees a better life for humanity."
