Advanced electronic materials specialist ICH announced on the 5th that it is supplying electromagnetic noise-blocking and shock-absorbing materials for Samsung Electronics' next-generation flagship foldable phone, the "Galaxy Z8" series. The company expects to benefit from strong pre-order performance of the Galaxy Z8 series.
The Galaxy Z8 series recorded a total of 1.44 million units in domestic pre-orders recently, setting a new record for the highest number of pre-orders among all Galaxy smartphones. This achievement is attributed to its unique position in the premium smartphone market and the adoption of a new form factor.
ICH is supplying electromagnetic noise-blocking gaskets and high-performance polyurethane (PU) foam materials for internal shock absorption for the Galaxy Z8 series product lineup. The adopted high-performance PU foam plays a role in enhancing product durability and operational stability. Particularly due to the folding structure, ICH applied its own developed optimal high-performance precision material within the narrow internal space.
The popularity of the Galaxy Z8 series is confirmed not only in the domestic market but also globally, with related sales expected to increase significantly in the second half of the year. Driven by strong sales of its core products, electromagnetic noise-blocking gaskets and high-performance PU foam, the turnaround trend in performance observed from the first quarter is expected to continue through the second half of the year.
An ICH official stated, "Our core electronic materials are being supplied for Samsung Electronics' premium foldable phone lineup, which has received a strong response both domestically and globally," adding, "We expect sales of related materials to increase significantly in the second half of the year, driven by sales performance exceeding expectations." The official further said, "We will strengthen our growth drivers through continuous cooperation with major global clients and enhanced sales activities."
