Krafton is launching a search for new franchises to succeed its global hit "PUBG: Battlegrounds." At the world's largest gaming show, Gamescom 2026, the company unveiled five new titles that diversify genres, ranging from open-world FPS (first-person shooter) and MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) to cooperative adventure and Eastern dark fantasy.
Krafton announced on the 27th that it held a "Krafton Media Day" for global media at the Cologne Messe in Germany on the 26th (local time), revealing its strategy to expand global franchises and its direction for new game development.
The newly revealed titles include: △NO LAW △Project ZETA △Age Twisters △TARAE: The Unbound, and △PUBG: DED.NET. The strategy involves discovering the next franchise through various approaches, from works that transform existing genre formulas to games developed in collaboration with external studios and new titles expanding the PUBG intellectual property (IP).
Jang Tae-seok, Krafton's Head of Global Publishing and Head of the PUBG Franchise, emphasized PUBG's experience of growing from a single game into a global franchise over the past decade. "Creating a game that remains memorable for a long time is difficult and takes a long time. There are no shortcuts or easy paths," Jang said, adding, "We will boldly move forward toward the dream that 'if Krafton makes it, it's fun.'"
'NO LAW' is an immersive open-world FPS RPG developed by Neon Giant. Set in the lawless city of Port Desire, opportunities, threats, and stories change based on user choices and actions. Designed using Unreal Engine 5, the game encourages users to explore the world in their own way rather than following a predetermined path.
'Project ZETA,' developed by Nebanana, is characterized by eliminating the lane-based combat that is a core formula of existing MOBAs. Four teams of three players compete for key objects from the early stages of the game. Krafton plans to develop the game through global community testing.
'Age Twisters' is a two-player cooperative adventure where a grandfather and granddaughter travel between four age groups: children, youth, adults, and the elderly. The game incorporates generational differences into gameplay by changing abilities and dialogue based on age.
TARAE: The Unbound, from domestic developer Boundary, is an Eastern dark fantasy action RPG set in a worldview based on Buddhist concepts of the six realms of reincarnation and karma. Inspired by East Asian culture from the 15th to 17th centuries, it implements classes such as Man-sin (divine guardian), Chakho-gapsa (armored warrior), Fengshui master, and kunoichi.
Expansion of the PUBG IP continues. PUBG Studio's 'PUBG: DED.NET' reinterprets PUBG's survival and competition elements into new gameplay, moving beyond the existing battle royale formula. The setting is "Cascadia 1996," inspired by the Pacific Northwest of the United States in the 1990s.
During Gamescom 2026, Krafton will set up a booth at Hall 9 of the Cologne Messe to showcase its five new titles to global users.
