The Broadcast Media and Communications Commission announced that it will waive reception fees for areas affected by heavy rains last July.
On the 2nd, the Commission stated that at its 32nd meeting, it deliberated and approved a waiver of reception fees for residents in four districts of Andong City and Uiseong County, Gyeongbuk Province, which were designated as special disaster zones due to damage from heavy rains last July.
Similarly, for Geoje City and Tongyeong City, Gyeongsangnam-do, where special disaster zones were also declared last month, support measures will be implemented once the count of eligible recipients is finalized.
The Commission rejected the 'debt ratio reduction plan' as a condition for re-licensing DeeLive, a cable TV operator, and issued an order to correct the violation. This decision was made after determining that key initiatives such as attracting external investment lacked sufficient detail and that the proposed financial improvement measures were inadequate. As a result, the Commission ordered DeeLive to submit implementation plans, including capital expansion and targets for reducing its debt ratio, within three months.
Additionally, the Commission issued an order to correct violations by Geumsung Development Co., Ltd. regarding restrictions on ownership of terrestrial broadcasting operators.
On this day, the application to change the largest shareholder of CCS Chungbuk Broadcasting to KX Innovation was rejected. The explanation stated that the applicant failed to meet the substantive requirements for the change due to factors such as the seizure of shares held by the current largest shareholder.
