"One year after establishing our Korean office, the number of users for 'ChatGPT Enterprise' has increased 28-fold."
Kim Kyung-hoon, Managing Director of OpenAI Korea, stated at the press conference held on the 9th to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the official launch of OpenAI Korea Office at the Chosun Palace Hotel in Seoul Gangnam-gu, "While some companies had already adopted ChatGPT Enterprise through our headquarters prior to this, the number of adopting companies has increased since the local office was established."
OpenAI cited Samsung Electronics and Seoul National University as representative cases. Kim (CEO) said, "Samsung Electronics is a global success story that has implemented ChatGPT Enterprise across all its employees," and added, "In addition, we are collaborating with Samsung Electronics in various areas, including joint research on next-generation chip production and advancing the StarGate project."
Citing these achievements, OpenAI evaluated itself as having contributed to Korea's AX (AI transformation) over the past year. Kim (CEO) stated, "On September 10 last year, at the opening ceremony, we announced our goal to work together on Korea's AI transformation," and noted, "Over the past year, we have achieved the expected results by participating in public AI projects and conveying feedback from Korea to headquarters."
OpenAI announced last month that global users of AI agents such as ChatGPT Work and Codex increased 14-fold compared to March. AI agents are advanced services that operate autonomously, differing from existing chatbots that simply answer questions.
Kim (CEO) identified frontier AI model performance as the core of agent AI. Kim (CEO) said, "The recently announced 'GPT-6 Astra' model was developed with a focus on its ability to complete tasks," and added, "Its key feature is that it continuously thinks about goals, remembers previous work, and produces high-quality results."
As a future representative strategy, OpenAI highlighted its advertising business. OpenAI introduced advertising in the Korean market on June 19. Currently, ads are being displayed to users of some free and low-cost plans (GO). OpenAI stated that it generated annualized revenue of $1 billion (approximately 1.34 trillion won) just 200 days after launching its advertising service globally. Kim (CEO) remarked, "This is a speed never seen on any other ad platform," and added, "We will approach this balance to protect user privacy while providing services that satisfy advertisers."
OpenAI is also focusing on the cybersecurity field. Based on its partner network, OpenAI plans to expand corporate adoption, implementation, operation, and diffusion of AI. In particular, it intends to expand 'Daybreak,' an advanced cybersecurity AI program provided to security experts and companies. OpenAI plans to establish new Daybreak partners and select more than five additional Daybreak partners in the future.
Regarding SamsungSDS, which announced on the 8th that it would participate as a pilot partner for Daybreak, Kim (CEO) explained, "Since the partner program is currently under development, we used the term 'pilot' to signify the first step." He added, "Not only SamsungSDS but also other Samsung affiliates will use OpenAI's cybersecurity models." He further stated, "The Korean government manages enterprises separately," and noted, "We are continuously working to provide the Korean government with rapid access to the most advanced models."
