
Starting with its new title ‘Goblin’s World,’ Kakao Games is launching an offensive of new releases to turn around its performance. The company plans to consecutively release major anticipated titles through the first half of next year, aiming for a revenue recovery in the fourth quarter and a return to profitability in the first quarter of next year.
Kakao Games announced on the 8th that it has begun official service for its new title ‘Goblin’s World.’ ‘Goblin’s World’ is the first title in Kakao Games’ new lineup prepared to improve its performance.
‘Goblin’s World’ is a 2.5D MMORPG developed by SuperCat based on the IP of Naver web novel and webtoon ‘Myeolgwisudojeon.’ It combines 2D dot characters with 3D backgrounds to realize a retro sensibility and a three-dimensional sense of space. Dot art and world-building that utilize Korean traditional sentiments are also distinctive features.
Along with the launch, Kakao Games is conducting events and partnership promotions to secure users. In a special attendance event running for 28 days, daily login rewards and a final reward of ‘Hero Blessing Selection Box’ will be provided.
On Chzzk and SOOP, a drops event will be conducted where users who watch related broadcasts for a certain amount of time will receive in-game coupons. Partnership promotions such as Google Play Games discounts, Google Play Points boosters, and Kakao Pay point cashback have also been prepared. Payment discounts for KT and LG Uplus users, as well as partnership events with Google Gift Codes and Culture Cash, will also be conducted.
Cha Myung-soo, Business Division Director at Kakao Games, said, “While preparing ‘Goblin’s World,’ we have extensively referred to and reflected user opinions.” He added, “Even after the official launch, we will continuously reflect opinions arising from actual gameplay into the service to make it a game that can be enjoyed for a long time.”
‘Goblin’s World’ is the beginning of Kakao Games’ new release offensive. The company plans to sequentially unveil strategic adventure RPG ‘Dungeon Arise,’ XLGames’ action RPG ‘Aion Chronicle,’ and Lionheart Studio’s ‘Odin Q: Valkyrie’s Call,’ among others, through the first half of next year.
Open-world zombie survival game ‘God Save Birmingham,’ action RPG ‘Chrono Odyssey,’ and MMORPG ‘Aion S: Strait of Freedom’ are also in the queue.
In its second-quarter earnings release, Kakao Games had projected that it would begin revenue recovery in the fourth quarter of this year based on the effect of new releases, and that a return to profitability would be possible in the first quarter of next year.
