LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo is set to begin business review meetings targeting all affiliates to reflect on this year's performance and refine plans for next year.
According to LG on the 19th, the business review meetings chaired by Koo (Chairman) will commence today. The meetings will be attended by CEOs of each affiliate and heads of business divisions, who will focus on reviewing this year's business results and next year's business plans.
The business review meetings are scheduled to continue for approximately one month, starting with electronics affiliates such as LG Electronics, LG Display, and LG Innotek, followed by chemical affiliates like LG Energy Solution and LG Chem, and then telecommunications service affiliates including LG Uplus and LG CNS. LG Group typically holds executive meetings at the end of each quarter in March, June, and September to discuss key issues, while using the business review meetings to look back on the year as a whole. The December executive meeting, held after regular personnel changes are finalized, serves as an opportunity for newly appointed management teams across companies to coordinate their efforts.
To elevate its business portfolio, LG Group has selected and intensively discussed core agendas each quarter at this year's executive meetings. In March, the focus was on "AX (Artificial Intelligence Transformation) execution capability," in June on "Winning R&D," and in September on "elevating investment strategy," thereby strengthening business competitiveness.
In particular, at the September executive meeting, amid new growth opportunities opening up in the AI era, the company reviewed investment results and strategies centered on key AI battlegrounds such as AI factories, physical AI, and AX. Koo stated on that occasion, "AI is no longer an area where a selective response is possible; it is a core pillar determining future competitiveness," urging the executive team to "possess rapid speed and relentless execution capability so that we can win in the key battlegrounds of the AI future."
At this business review meeting, strategies and execution plans for each affiliate to secure new business opportunities in future growth areas, including AI, are expected to be broadly discussed based on topics addressed at executive meetings.
Discussions are also expected to take place regarding concrete business collaborations with global big tech companies such as NVIDIA and Microsoft, as well as follow-up execution plans based on these partnerships. This year, LG has concretized cooperation with NVIDIA in the fields of AI factories, physical AI, and mobility, and has also agreed to expand the scope of collaboration with Microsoft across the entire AI infrastructure sector.
Since the beginning of this year, Koo has met repeatedly with Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, and last month met with Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, in the United States to hold a Top Management Meeting (TMM) and sign a strategic partnership agreement.
An LG official said, "It is a strategy to maximize synergies among related affiliates through the 'One LG' approach, which consolidates group-level capabilities beyond individual affiliate performance, aiming to maximize results in key future AI battlegrounds rather than just short-term cooperation."
