Broadcaster Yoo Jae-suk (53) drew attention when the National Tax Service directly commented on his act of paying taxes while filming a broadcast.
On the 5th, an online community shared a comment left by the official YouTube channel of the National Tax Service on Episode 1 of "Punghyangjung," uploaded on the 1st to the YouTube channel 'Tteuntteun.'
In Episode 1 of "Punghyangjung," Yoo Jae-suk was shown panicking after forgetting his wallet, then contacting his manager and wife Na Gyeong-eun to retrieve it. Later, Yoo said, "I need to stop by the bank for a moment" and "I must pay taxes. Since filming schedules continue, I don't have time to go to the bank," before going directly to the bank to pay his taxes.
When Ji Seok-jin expressed dissatisfaction by asking, "Can't you just pay it later?" Yoo emphasized, "Taxes must be paid on time" and "Tax payment is truly important. It's our duty," eliciting laughter.

The video was filmed at the end of June; it is reported that Yoo visited the bank to meet the deadline for paying comprehensive income tax.
Upon viewing the video, the National Tax Service left a comment saying, "Mr. Jae-suk, thank you for your diligent tax payment. We look forward to seeing you again next year with continued faithful tax compliance," expressing its gratitude.
Netizens reacted with comments such as "Yoo Jae-suk provided free promotion," "The National Tax Service must be truly grateful," and "A diligent taxpayer is cool."
Even a Shinhan Bank employee who handled Yoo Jae-suk's tax payment in the video left a comment: "I am a Shinhan Bank employee who processed your tax payment. It is an honor to serve a faithful taxpayer."
However, as interest grew, it appears the National Tax Service deleted the comment.
Previously, Yoo Jae-suk underwent a rigorous tax audit in 2024 but became a topic of discussion after no evidence of intentional income omission or tax evasion was found.
Subsequently, a tax expert explained that Yoo pays taxes differently from other celebrities who typically use the "bookkeeping" method to deduct expenses based on ordinary expense documentation. For instance, if someone earns 10 billion won in revenue, they can recognize 4 billion won in necessary expenses through bookkeeping, resulting in a taxable income of 6 billion won and tax payment of approximately 2.7 billion won. However, Yoo applies the standard expense ratio, leading to a higher taxable income and tax payment of about 4.1 billion won.
