Samsung Electronics has unveiled its premium tablet, the 'Galaxy Tab S12 Series,' which significantly boosts AI (artificial intelligence) performance and features Adobe Photoshop, a first for Android tablets. The top-tier model, the 'Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra,' offers a 61% improvement in NPU (Neural Processing Unit) performance compared to its predecessor.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 1st that it will launch the 'Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra' and 'Galaxy Tab S12+' starting from the 7th in South Korea, as well as in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, India, Japan, and other countries.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra maintains a thickness of 5.1 mm while enhancing performance on a large 14.6-inch display. Equipped with the latest processor, it delivers approximately 61% higher NPU performance, approximately 19% higher CPU (Central Processing Unit) performance, and approximately 17% higher GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) performance compared to the previous Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. It also dissipates heat generated during high-demand tasks by applying a newly designed 3D vapor chamber.
In terms of battery life, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra can be used for up to 23 hours and the S12+ for up to 21 hours based on video playback. Both devices support 45W charging, allowing them to be fully charged in approximately 95 minutes.
The Galaxy Tab S12+ features a 12.6-inch display, larger than the 12.4-inch screen of its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S10+. Both devices are equipped with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display offering up to 1,600 nits of brightness and four-channel speakers.
AI features also focus on utilizing the large screen. The devices run 'One UI 9' based on Android 17, allowing users to divide the screen into up to three areas using multi-window functionality. For example, users can watch a lecture video while taking notes in Samsung Notes and asking questions to an AI assistant. Notes written with the included S Pen can be summarized immediately using 'Note Assist.'
Notably, it is the first Android tablet to come pre-installed with 'Adobe Photoshop.' Users can perform image editing and drawing tasks through an interface optimized for the tablet screen and S Pen. Photoshop Mobile Premium will be provided free of charge for four months. The company also offers a six-month free subscription to Google AI Pro, as well as benefits related to external apps such as Notability, GoodNotes, LumaFusion, and Notion.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra will be released in models with △12GB memory and 256GB storage, △12GB and 512GB, and △16GB and 1TB, priced between 1,899,700 won and 3,018,400 won. The Galaxy Tab S12+ will be released in models with △12GB and 256GB, and △12GB and 512GB, priced between 1,549,900 won and 2,069,100 won. Available colors are Gray and Silver, with both 5G and Wi-Fi models offered. Both devices support up to seven OS upgrades and security updates.
Kim Jung-hyun, Vice President of the MX Business Division at Samsung Electronics, said, "By combining powerful hardware with the latest Galaxy AI, we will support users in experiencing optimal productivity."
