LG CNS is teaming up with Japanese telecommunications company KDDI to expand its AX and DX business in the Asia-Pacific region.
On the 14th, LG CNS announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with KDDI for AX and DX projects in the Asia-Pacific region and will pursue joint project development.
KDDI is one of Japan's three major comprehensive telecommunications companies, providing services ranging from B2C offerings such as mobile communications and internet to B2B IT services including AI, cloud, and communication networks. In the Asia-Pacific region, it conducts B2B business based on 19 hubs across 15 countries.
The core of this cooperation lies in combining LG CNS's AX and DX capabilities with KDDI's telecommunications infrastructure and global network. The two companies will jointly explore new business opportunities in fields such as AI, smart cities, telecommunications, and system integration operation and management.
In the AI sector, they plan to leverage LG CNS's agentic AI platform, "Agentic Works," to develop customized agentic AI services for local enterprises to be applied to KDDI's Asia-Pacific operations.
Cooperation in physical AI-based business automation is also under consideration. This involves providing a service that integrates and manages robots on manufacturing, logistics, and distribution sites using LG CNS's RX platform, "Physical Works."
The two companies will also jointly target the Southeast Asian smart city market. The plan combines LG CNS's smart city solutions and project execution experience, including urban integrated control systems and intelligent transportation systems, with KDDI's telecommunications infrastructure technology and local business capabilities.
The two companies also plan to expand the scope of cooperation by sharing technology and know-how in telecommunications and system integration operation and management, which are key areas for KDDI.
To this end, they have established a working-level consultation body and designated Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, China, and other regions as priority business targets to concretize new business opportunities.
Matsura Kenta, Deputy General Manager of the Business Growth Division at KDDI, stated, "The cooperation between KDDI and LG CNS aims to create a new industrial foundation by integrating AI, telecommunications, and data." He added, "We will cooperate with various partners in the Asia-Pacific region to form a digital ecosystem that supports corporate and social infrastructure."
Park Sang-gyun, Senior Executive Vice President of the Telecommunications, Distribution, and Service Business Division at LG CNS, said, "We expect this agreement to allow us to combine our capabilities to create new business opportunities in the Asia-Pacific market." He added, "Together with KDDI, we will deliver tangible results in global AX projects."
