Samsung Electronics unveiled the 'Galaxy SmartTag3' on the 1st, a device that is 33% lighter than its predecessor and can locate items from up to three times farther away. It is the first in the Galaxy SmartTag series to support iOS devices. The product will be released domestically on the 7th at a price of 44,000 won.
The Galaxy SmartTag3 is a device attached to personal belongings such as keys and bags, or to pets, to check their location. Its volume has been reduced by approximately 35% and its weight by approximately 33% compared to the previous model. It features a cushion design with rounded corners and aluminum material buttons. A silicone case with an integrated keyring and a loop case will also be released alongside it.
The search range has increased by approximately three times. By newly applying Bluetooth 6.0's 'Channel Sounding' technology, users can check the direction and distance of the tag using 'Compass View' from up to 60 meters away, depending on the surrounding environment. When approaching within 20 meters of the tag, it provides more precise location information using UWB (Ultra-Wideband) technology.
For example, if you lose your keys in a large park, you can narrow down the direction using Channel Sounding within 60 meters, and then find the exact location using UWB when approaching within 20 meters. Features utilizing Channel Sounding are initially supported on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, Galaxy S26 Ultra, and S26 Plus.
Supported devices have also been expanded. While previous SmartTags could only be located and shared via Galaxy devices supporting 'SmartThings Find', the SmartTag3 allows users to check and share tag locations on iOS devices as well.
Even if the direct connection between the smartphone and the tag is lost, the location can be found through the 'Galaxy Find Network,' which connects over 900 million Galaxy devices worldwide. Samsung Electronics has also improved the location update speed in this product.
The battery uses a single replaceable CR2032 cell, lasting up to 550 days under normal usage conditions and up to 790 days in power-saving mode. It also supports IP67-rated water and dust resistance.
A feature has been added that notifies users when an item or pet with the tag attached enters or leaves a designated zone. If movement of the tag is detected after the connection with the smartphone is lost, a notification is sent, and the movement path can be checked through 'Location History.'
Kim Jung-hyun, Senior Vice President and Head of the CX Division in Samsung Electronics' MX Business Division, stated, "Users have always wanted to easily and conveniently check the locations not only of their travel bags but also of everyday belongings and pets." He added, "With its compact design and powerful Galaxy Find Network, precise location tracking is possible."
The Galaxy SmartTag3 will be released in two colors: white and black.
