Wave will introduce a golf "AI viewing agent," becoming the first domestic OTT platform to offer such a service. The "AI viewing" service allows users to request specific golf scenes in natural language, with the AI then locating those scenes within the match footage and compiling them into a single video.
On the 1st, Wave announced that it would begin providing the "AI viewing" service starting that day, in collaboration with AI video technology company Seven Minute (7min).
Users can freely input requests for specific players, plays, or match situations. For example, if a user requests, "Show me today's match in 7 minutes," they can view key scenes tailored to that duration. They can also compile videos featuring only a specific player's plays, or create videos by play type, such as "long drive compilations" or "hole-in-one highlights." Users can also request videos from perspectives different from standard highlights, such as "players' golf wear," "field scenery," or "matches on rainy days."
Users can watch golf broadcasts, which last 4 to 5 hours per round and up to 20 hours for an entire tournament, tailored to their desired content and duration. For live broadcasts, the service also provides "AI Highlights" that are automatically generated as the match progresses. As the game unfolds, highlights are updated for up to 20 minutes, allowing users who start watching midway through the broadcast to quickly grasp the key flow of the match.
The service can also be utilized for golf lessons. Users can compile specific scenes, such as "a particular player's putting," "long drives," or "bunker escapes," to use as reference videos.
While existing OTT personalization services recommend content based on users' viewing history, AI viewing allows users to directly state the scenes they want and generate a video accordingly. Wave plans to expand AI viewing to various genres, including original content, starting with golf broadcasts.
The service is available via the Wave mobile app and PC web platform, and generated AI videos can be shared with social media platforms or acquaintances through a sharing feature.
A Wave official stated, "We are showcasing a new evolution in the viewing experience where users directly request scenes they want to see and curate them in their own way, starting with golf broadcasts." The official added, "We will review usability and expand the AI viewing experience to diverse content."
