As memory prices surged due to increased demand for AI (artificial intelligence), Samsung Electronics raised the price of its new premium tablet, the 'Galaxy Tab S12' series, by nearly 25% compared to the previous model. Samsung Electronics also unveiled the Galaxy's first clip-style wireless earbuds, the 'Galaxy Buds On,' and the location tracker, the 'Galaxy SmartTag3,' as it moves to expand its Galaxy ecosystem.
On the 1st, Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+, along with the Galaxy Buds On and Galaxy SmartTag3.
The prices for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi) model are as follows: △12GB RAM·256GB storage at 1,899,700 won; △12GB·512GB at 2,198,900 won; and △16GB·1TB at 2,798,400 won. At the launch of the previous model, the Tab S11 Ultra, the same specifications were priced at △1,598,300 won, △1,763,200 won, and △2,406,800 won, respectively. Consequently, the 256GB model increased by 301,400 won (18.9%), the 512GB model by 435,700 won (24.7%), and the 1TB model by 391,600 won (16.3%). As investment in AI data centers expands, surging memory demand and prices are creating rising component cost pressures that spread to finished products such as smartphones and tablets.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra features a 5.1mm thickness and a 14.6-inch display, the same as its predecessor. Equipped with the latest processor, it offers approximately 61% improved NPU (Neural Processing Unit) performance, approximately 19% improved CPU (Central Processing Unit) performance, and approximately 17% improved GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) performance compared to the previous model. Battery life for video playback is up to 23 hours.
The Tab S12+ increased its screen size from 12.4 inches to 12.6 inches compared to the previous model while reducing thickness and weight. Both products support a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits and the S Pen.
AI utilization has also been strengthened. By applying 'One UI 9' based on Android 17, users can divide the screen into up to three areas to simultaneously use video viewing, note-taking, and AI assistants. Notably, it is the first Android tablet to come with Adobe Photoshop pre-installed. Users can access Photoshop Mobile Premium for free for four months and are also provided with a six-month free subscription to Google AI Pro.
The Galaxy Buds On adopts a clip-style design that rests on the ear without fully blocking it, a first for the Galaxy Buds series. It features 'Twin Boost Speakers' to complement low-frequency ranges and noise leakage reduction technology to minimize sound escaping to the outside. A single charge allows for up to 9.5 hours of music playback. The domestic launch is scheduled for the 27th, with a price of 299,000 won.
The Galaxy SmartTag3 supports iOS devices for the first time in the series. Its volume has been reduced by approximately 35% and its weight by approximately 33% compared to the previous model. By applying Bluetooth 6.0's 'Channel Sounding' technology, users can check the tag's direction and distance from up to 60 meters away depending on the surrounding environment. The search range has increased by approximately three times compared to the previous model.
The SmartTag3 will be released domestically on the 7th at a price of 44,000 won. Sales of the Galaxy Tab S12 series will also begin on the same day.
