Broadcaster Jay Soon shared his own candid perspective on the parenting style of his son, Jun-beom, and school districts.
On the 24th, a video related to children's education was posted on the YouTube channel 'Eika Labs' under the title "'Do you really have to go to Daechi-dong or Mokdong?' Jay Soon and a dentist's thoughts on school districts."
In the video, Jay Soon began by saying, "If you are a parent raising a child, you will surely want to provide your child with a better environment." He then stated his conviction regarding his son Jun-beom's education: "Actually, it's okay if Jun-beom doesn't do well in his studies."
However, he emphasized that "what is more important than academic grades is the 'butt power' to focus on something," adding, "I often think that this applies not only to studying but also to playing with Lego; you live by your butt power."

Dentist Joo Ki-hoon, who appeared together with him, shared his experience, saying, "I originally lived in Gangnam, but I moved to Gangdong-gu because I wanted to spend more enjoyable time with my child." He added, "Children can play baseball together or play freely within the apartment complex, and since there are many peers around, my satisfaction is high."
In response, Jay Soon deeply empathized with the point that blindly insisting on famous school districts like Daechi-dong or Mokdong is not necessarily the best option. In particular, from the perspective of a parent raising an only child, he mentioned that "an environment rich in play facilities and peer groups to interact with is most important."
When Joo Ki-hoon said, "When I lived in Gangnam, I used to intentionally go to kids' cafes to let my child meet friends," Jay Soon nodded and replied, "As an only child, you find yourself in a situation where you have to actively seek out friends, and I fully understand that feeling."
Meanwhile, Jay Soon married comedian Hong Hyun-hee in 2018 and welcomed his son Jun-beom in 2022.
