Chef Kang Leo shared an anecdote about refusing a photo request from young people who had traveled to Japan using their unemployment benefits, delivering a sharp critique.
Recently, a video capturing Chef Kang Leo's daily life was released on the YouTube channel "Human Story."
In the video, Kang recalled an incident he experienced when he visited Japan in the past.
He said, "I went to Japan before, and there were guys next to me who had come for a trip using their unemployment benefits. They were saying things like, 'How much did you get? I heard you can get more,' and it really got on my nerves."
He continued, "Later, they asked, 'Chef, could you take a photo with us?' and I told them, 'I'll take one once you find a job.' It was infuriating that they were traveling with tax money."
When the production team remarked, "You seem to have a strong personality," Kang also shared his thoughts on employment.
He stated, "People say everything is difficult now and there are no paths, but why is there nothing to do? Go to a potato stew restaurant. There is so much work to be done. If you can't find a job, just come here and work."
He emphasized, "Nothing is easy. If you lack physical stamina, you need to build it up."
Meanwhile, unemployment benefits are a system that supports the livelihood of workers enrolled in employment insurance who have been involuntarily unemployed while they prepare for re-employment. Traveling during the benefit period is not inherently prohibited, but recipients must fulfill their obligation to engage in job-seeking activities, and fraudulent receipt of benefits, such as false reporting, is subject to sanctions.
