YouTuber and broadcaster Lalal opened up about her depressive state, which was compounded by stock investment losses and dieting. Excessive anxiety and stress over stock price fluctuations can affect daily life, so caution is necessary.
In a vlog posted on her YouTube channel on the 16th, Lalal said, "I think I've fallen into bear market depression." She added, "When I wake up in the morning and check my stock screen, I feel frustrated, and there's no sign of improvement."
She continued, "With dieting thrown in, I don't know why I have to live like this. I'd like to become prettier, but I'm not happy." She also shared her conflicted feelings. The video also showed her impulsively bleaching her hair or visiting a valley with family to change her mood.
Earlier, Lalal purchased SK Hynix shares at approximately 2.8 million won per share and posted on social media (SNS), "There are people on the 280th floor of Hynix," announcing her losses due to the stock price decline. On the 14th, SK Hynix closed at 1.645 million won.
Experts explain that repeated investment losses in stocks can increase anxiety and stress, affecting sleep and daily life. A particular concern is that the impatience to recover losses can lead to impulsive trading.
Psychiatrists emphasize that it is more important whether excessive immersion in stock price fluctuations disrupts daily life than the loss itself. If investors continuously check their stock screens, experience prolonged anxiety and depression over losses, or repeatedly make reckless investments to recover them, reducing investment size and seeking professional counseling when necessary can be helpful.
Experts advise that separating investment from daily life, reducing the frequency of checking stock prices, and maintaining a regular lifestyle rhythm through sufficient sleep, regular meals, and exercise are important for managing investment stress.
