Singer Kang Hyun-soo (45, real name Lee Sang-jin) has revealed his current status as a self-employed business owner after ceasing activities in the entertainment industry.
Recently, Kang Hyun-soo posted an article titled "Story of a Self-Employed Business Owner" on the social media account of the restaurant he operates.
Kang Hyun-soo recalled that time when he appeared on MBC's "Sunday Sunday Night - Guerrilla Concert" in 2001, saying, "I almost retired 25 years ago. I had promised to quit if I couldn't gather 2,000 people on a broadcast."
"Guerrilla Concert" was a program where singers would suddenly hold concerts and challenge themselves to meet their target audience numbers. At the time, Kang Hyun-soo explained that he needed to gather 5,000 audience members to perform, but only 4,362 people showed up, resulting in a failed guerrilla concert.
He explained, "On that day, 4,362 people came. I avoided retirement, but it fell short of the minimum performance requirement of 5,000 people. I became the first failed singer of Guerrilla Concert. We were short by 638 people."
Kang Hyun-soo wrote, "Now I grill meat in Seongsu," and added, "There are days when no one comes in for a long time after opening the door. On those days, I think about that number."
He further wrote, "It wasn't that we were short by 638 people; it was that 4,362 people came to support us. I should have understood what one person means back then, but it took me 25 years." He also drew attention by writing the phrase "I won't fail this time" in his social media account introduction.

Kang Hyun-soo debuted as a singer in 1999 with his first album 'CHOICE' and gained great popularity under the name V1 in 2003 with the song "That's How It Seems." He has appeared on JTBC's 'Suga Man' in 2015 and SBS's 'Burning Youth' in 2020, showing his face to the public.
