BTS member V admitted that his hearing in one ear has significantly declined over the past two and a half years, and he is currently undergoing treatment.
On the 12th, while hosting a live broadcast on the fan community platform Weverse with fellow member Jungkook, V disclosed his hearing condition for the first time.
V said, "I've never told ARMY (BTS fandom name) before, but it's been about two and a half years. My hearing has gotten worse," adding, "If this ear hears at 100%, that one only hears about 30%."
In response, Jungkook mentioned that V had recently visited a hospital and expressed concern, saying, "You need to take better care of yourself."
V explained that he is currently taking medication regularly and receiving medical treatment. He also revealed that his symptoms worsened during his military service.
He said, "(In the army) I was surrounded by people who exercised and cheered loudly, so they told me it was a mental issue," adding, "Since then, I've felt like I'm under some kind of hypnosis and believe it's a mental issue."
When Jungkook expressed worry, saying, "That shouldn't happen," V reassured fans by stating, "I am going to the hospital regularly."
V enlisted in December 2023, served with the Special Duty Team (SDT) of the Army's 2nd Corps Military Police Unit, and was discharged last June.
After all BTS members completed their military service, the group released their fifth full album "ARIRANG" in March this year and is currently on a world tour.
