Singer and actor Kim Min-jong (54) has filed a criminal complaint against rapper and producer MC Mong (46, real name Shin Dong-hyun) with the police.
On the 2nd, Kim Min-jong's legal representative, law firm Okim, announced that they had filed a complaint against MC Mong the previous day on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation).
Kim Min-jong's side stated, "Our reputation and trust built over approximately 38 years since our debut in 1988 have been seriously damaged," adding that "concrete damages occurred, including the suspension of discussions for an upcoming Hollywood film role and two advertising contracts."
They further remarked, "We can no longer overlook the harm caused by content that is clearly false," and added, "We will diligently cooperate with the investigation process to clarify the facts and proceed sequentially with necessary legal measures, including civil claims for damages."
Kim Min-jong's side continued, "If additional dissemination or repeated posting of false information is confirmed, we plan to take further legal action, including a temporary injunction prohibiting the spread of false statements," emphasizing, "We can no longer stand by and watch our reputation maintained for 38 years and the trust of our fans being undermined by baseless claims. We will hold them fully accountable without any compromise, strictly following the law and principles."
Previously, in May, MC Mong mentioned during a live broadcast on his social media that an illegal gambling group known as 'Badugi' exists and implicated Kim Min-jong in it within the entertainment industry.
