Singer Kim Geon-mo (58) is launching a nationwide tour to celebrate his 35th debut anniversary and connect with fans.
According to Ista Media Company on the 4th, Kim Geon-mo will begin his 'Kim Geon-mo 35th Anniversary Live Tour' on October 10 in Daegu, followed by performances in major cities including Goyang, Gwangju, and Jeonju through next year.
After a six-year hiatus, Kim Geon-mo returned to the stage last year and released his new song "Where Are We Going?" in July for the first time in about a decade. He plans to unveil additional new songs this autumn.
For the first time since his debut, he will also perform live guitar during the concert. Known for years as "Kim Geon-mo the Piano Player," he revealed that he dedicated himself to practicing guitar during his break.
Kim Geon-mo stated, "During my hiatus, I practiced guitar alone for four to five hours daily and returned to music." He added, "This stage is not merely a comeback but a new debut performance as Kim Geon-mo playing the guitar."
He also opened up about his emotional journey during the long break. "It didn't take long for the tower I had spent 28 years building to crumble," he said. "Now, instead of trying to build a high tower alone, I want to create a warm path where juniors and long-time fans can walk together."
Kim Geon-mo was indicted in 2019 on charges of sexually assaulting a woman working at an entertainment venue in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in 2016. The Prosecution Service later determined that the allegations were unsubstantiated following investigations into relevant statements and evidence, resulting in a no-prosecution decision in 2021.
Kim Geon-mo denied the allegations but left programs he was appearing on at the time, including SBS's "Unpretty Love Story," and canceled his 25th-anniversary concert. He later divorced pianist Jang Ji-yeon, who is 13 years his junior, after two years and eight months of marriage.
