
Samsung Electrro-Mechanics will invest a total of 6.78 trillion won to expand packaging substrate production facilities at its domestic Sejong site and its Vietnamese production subsidiary. The company plans to increase domestic and overseas production capacity to meet rising demand for packaging substrates.
On the 28th, the company held a board meeting and announced via public disclosure that it decided to invest 4.27 trillion won in expanding packaging substrate production facilities at its Sejong site. This investment marks the largest single-product investment in the company's history.
The Sejong site investment will run from today until May 31, 2028. The investment amount corresponds to 43.6% of Samsung Electric's equity as of the consolidated financial statements at the end of last year, which stood at 9.7973 trillion won. Samsung Electric stated that the expansion is "to increase packaging substrate production capacity (capacity)."
The Vietnamese production subsidiary will also expand its packaging substrate factory. On this day, Samsung Electro-Mechanics Vietnam decided to acquire tangible assets worth 2.51 trillion won for the purpose of expanding its packaging substrate plant. The factory will be built on the site of the Vietnamese production subsidiary, with an expected acquisition date of April 30, 2028.
Through this investment, it will simultaneously expand packaging substrate production facilities in both Korea and Vietnam. The company noted that "the investment amount and investment period may vary slightly during future business operations."
