LG Uplus is expanding customer benefits, including overseas roaming, membership discounts, and youth support programs, ahead of the summer vacation season and peak consumption period. This move follows discussions among the Ministry of Science and ICT and the three major mobile carriers to stabilize people’s livelihoods, aiming to reduce customers’ burdens on communication and living expenses.
LG Uplus announced on the 30th that it will expand customer benefits centered on overseas roaming, membership programs, regional tourism initiatives, and support for young customers.
First, roaming benefits for travelers abroad are being strengthened. Customers using the AI (artificial intelligence) call agent service 'ixi-O' can make free voice calls domestically and internationally via 'ixi-O Roaming Call' as long as they connect to Wi-Fi overseas, without needing to subscribe to a separate roaming plan.
Benefits for family travelers have also been prepared. The representative of a 'Roaming Pass Sharing' subscription will receive an additional 3GB of data, and tablet roaming support is being expanded. Data benefits are also planned to be strengthened for customers using roaming plans.
Programs for young customers are also being expanded. LG Uplus will offer up to 2GB of data roaming along with 'Uth' membership benefits and provide five local perks in Japan. Additionally, the 'Youth AI Shorts Festival,' with a total prize pool of 100 million won, will be held, offering the winner the 'Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Award' and an opportunity for AI training in Los Angeles (LA), USA.
Daily-life-oriented membership benefits are also being strengthened. Starting in August, LG Uplus will operate a total of 52 types of benefits through 'U+ Plus,' covering dining, shopping, culture, and leisure. Discounts include 25% off at Outback, 50% off at Domino's Pizza, up to 9,000 won off on Baskin-Robbins family-size ice cream, up to 27,000 won in coupons from Curly, 50% off at Ocean World, and 55% off at Seoul Land. New partner companies such as Long Black, Milk-in, and Icon Golf have also been added.
Experience programs linked with regional tourism have also been prepared. Programs such as the Chuncheon Legoland Waterfall Party and Hwadam Forest experience sessions are being operated. In the second half of the year, differentiated benefits for long-term customers (over 10 years) and membership VVIPs will be expanded. In August, a special event inviting all attendees to the musical 'Dear Evan Hansen' is planned, with a total of 1,100 customers expected to be invited.
An LG Uplus official stated, "We have expanded benefits that customers can practically experience in their daily lives during the summer vacation season and peak consumption period," adding, "Moving forward, we will continue to introduce diverse benefits reflecting customer usage patterns and lifestyle habits."
