Joseph Lubin, co-founder of Ethereum and CEO of blockchain software company Consensys, is visiting Korea for the first time in seven years.
Fact Block, the organizer of Korea Blockchain Week (KBW), announced on the 24th that Lubin will participate as a main conference speaker at 'KBW2026 with Upbit,' scheduled to take place in September. This marks Lubin's first visit to Korea since 2019.
Lubin is an early blockchain developer who co-created Ethereum alongside Vitalik Buterin. He later founded Consensys, building digital asset wallet 'MetaMask,' the blockchain development platform 'Infura,' and the Ethereum Layer 2 network 'Linea.' Recently, he also participated in launching 'Ethereum Institutional,' a non-profit organization supporting traditional financial institutions' adoption of Ethereum.
At this event, Lubin is scheduled to discuss how the convergence of traditional finance and blockchain—centered on stablecoins, real-world assets (RWA), and security tokens (STO)—will impact global financial markets and the Ethereum ecosystem.
Charles Janssen, Managing Director overseeing decentralized finance (DeFi) transition at global credit rating agency S&P Global, has also joined as a speaker. S&P Global is evaluating the stability of major stablecoins and expanding its analysis scope to include tokenized funds. In June, it released a report analyzing South Korea's moves toward institutionalizing won-denominated stablecoins.
Janssen is scheduled to present on the changes that tokenization and digital assets will bring to global financial markets, as well as traditional financial institutions' entry into on-chain markets.
Previously, Fact Block announced speakers including Yul Ruz, CEO of Digital Assets; Bo Hines, CEO of Tether USA₮; Jeff Yan, CEO of Hyperliquid; and Arthur Hayes, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Mailstrom. Patrick White, Secretary of the U.S. Baek Ak-gwan (President) Digital Asset Advisory Committee, Chris Land, Director of the U.S. Senate Banking Subcommittee on Digital Assets, and Bermuda Prime Minister David Burt will also attend.
For its 9th edition this year, KBW features Upbit as a presenting partner. The event begins with the 'Upbit Institutional Summit' for institutional investors and invitees on September 29, followed by the main conference from September 30 to October 1.
