Actor Oh Dae-hwan shared his heartfelt memories of the late Kim Joo-hyuk.
A video titled "New Recruits Officer Special Episode 2" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Dae-hwan-yeong" on Saturday.
The video featured actors Oh Yong, Nam Min-woo, Lee Sang-jin, and Oh Dae-hwan, who appeared in the ENA drama "New Recruit 4: Sabotage," as they went on a trip together and shared stories.
Recalling the filming of the "New Recruit" series, Oh said, "There isn't a single rude person among the 'New Recruit' younger actors. They all work hard and are truly kind and diligent. I sincerely prayed for their success."
Oh then recalled an anecdote about Kim Joo-hyuk, saying, "It suddenly came to mind. It was when we were filming 'Gwam Herjun.' I don't know how my senior Joo-hyuk knew it was my birthday, but he said, 'Isn't today your birthday? Wait, I'll treat you to a meal.'"

Oh continued, "At that time, Kim Joo-hyuk was a star among stars. I was just a bit part actor who had barely started my career. We went to a sushi restaurant, and it seems I ate over 40 plates in a flash. He found my ravenous eating endearing. That memory is vivid. After that, we didn't stay in touch much. Then, suddenly, I came across an article about his passing. I burst into tears as soon as I saw it. I sobbed uncontrollably. I thought of the time he treated me to a meal and felt sorry."
Oh Yong, who was listening, also mentioned that Kim Joo-hyuk had once taken all the background actors from a historical drama he was appearing in to a PyongyangNaengmyeon restaurant and paid for their meals on their behalf.
Oh Dae-hwan advised Lee Sang-jin, "Didn't you ask how one should treat junior actors? Treat them to lots of food. Buy them meals when you have time, and buy them meals when you can afford it." Oh Yong agreed, saying, "That will give junior actors the strength to persevere."
One internet user who watched the video commented, "It is soon the anniversary of Guttang-hyung's passing. It has been almost nine years since he passed away, but the fact that stories of his kindness never cease shows that he was truly a great senior."
Kim Joo-hyuk was the son of veteran actor Kim Mu-saeng. He debuted in 1997 with the film "City Story" and began his career as an SBS public recruitment talent in 1998, becoming part of the eighth cohort.
He actively worked across dramas and films, including "KAIST," "Lovers in Prague," "Blue Love: I Don't Need Love," "My Wife Has Married," "Bansadon: The Herstory," "Gwam Herjun," and "The Beauty Inside." He also gained great popularity by appearing on the national variety show "2 Days & 1 Night," earning the nickname "Guttang-hyung" (Brother Guttang).
Kim Joo-hyuk passed away at the young age of 45 in a traffic accident in October 2017. He received Best Supporting Actor awards at the Grand Bell Awards, Blue Dragon Film Awards, and Baeksang Arts Awards for his final work, "The Roundup."
