The story of comedian Chung Jong-cheol, who ended his life in Icheon, Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province and relocated to Gangnam, Seoul at his wife's strong insistence, has been revealed.
On the 26th, a video titled "Economic stories good for listening while lying in bed: Kim Goo-ra Economic Research Institute Full Version" was released on the YouTube channel "Geuriguura." In the video, actor Lee Gye-in shared his past real estate investment experiences.
In the video, Lee Gye-in recounted an anecdote about moving into an apartment in Icheon Seoksa-dong at Chung Jong-cheol's recommendation. He said, "I did a live KBS variety show with Chung Jong-cheol," and recalled, "He told me, 'Senior, I bought a 70-something pyeong unit in the Xi in Seoksa-dong, and it is amazing. There is a fishing pond on the right side of the entrance.'"
Lee Gye-in, who usually enjoys fishing, became interested upon hearing that there was a fishing pond near the apartment. Chung Jong-cheol encouraged him to move in, saying they could enjoy fishing together, but Chung himself sold his home and left just one year after moving into Icheon.
Kim Goo-ra said, "Jong-cheol makes quick decisions. He stayed for exactly one year, then said 'This is not it' and sold the place and moved out."
Lee Gye-in revealed the reason Chung Jong-cheol decided to move. He said, "When I asked why he was leaving, he told me his wife said she would divorce him if he did not go to Seoul," adding, "He said they decided to go somewhere small in Gangnam. You cannot wait forever for home prices to rise."
Kim Goo-ra mentioned that after Chung Jong-cheol moved to Seocho-dong or Bangbae-dong in Seoul, he achieved good results in real estate investment, saying, "I realized I should listen to what women say."
Recalling Chung Jong-cheol's choice, Lee Gye-in expressed a bitter feeling while adding, "He did not scam me," which drew laughter.
It was previously revealed that Chung Jong-cheol purchased a building in Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul last year under the name of his corporation for 4.5 billion won, sparking attention.
