Amid rumors that actress Ha Young (33, real name Ahn Ha-young), whose great-grandfather is embroiled in a pro-Japanese collaboration controversy, would appear in Netflix's series "Heavy Trauma Center" seasons 2 and 3, Netflix stated, "Nothing has been confirmed."
According to NEWS1 on the 26th, a Netflix representative said regarding rumors of Ha Young appearing in subsequent seasons of "Heavy Trauma Center," "Production of sequels is still under discussion, so we cannot confirm details such as filming start dates or casting at this time."
Earlier, OSEN reported that day that "Heavy Trauma Center" is preparing to produce a third season following the second, and that Ha Young, who played nurse Cheon Jang-mi, is expected to continue without dropping out.
Ha Young gained popularity in early last year for her role as Cheon Jang-mi in "Heavy Trauma Center."
However, she appeared on KBS 2TV's "Problem Children of the Attic" on the 7th, introducing herself as coming from a family of doctors spanning four generations, with her great-grandfather, grandfather, father, and older sister all pursuing medical careers. This led to controversy over pro-Japanese collaboration.
After the broadcast, it was revealed that Ha Young's great-grandfather was named Ahn Sang-ho, bringing his activities during the Japanese colonial period into public view. Records indicating that Ahn Sang-ho was included in the list of councilors for the pro-Japanese organization Daejeong Friendship Association, established in 1916, spread widely.
Ha Young's agency initially issued a statement denying allegations regarding her great-grandfather's pro-Japanese activities as baseless but later retracted its position and apologized. Ha Young also publicly released a handwritten apology letter and expressed remorse.
The controversy over Ha Young's great-grandfather's pro-Japanese collaboration arose while she was filming SBS's "There Is Hope." The production team continued filming afterward. At one point, Ha Young became overwhelmed with emotion during filming, showing tears, which led to a temporary halt in shooting. It was reported that after taking a week off, she returned to the set and resumed filming.
