Ko Ji-yong, formerly of the group Sechs Kies, and his ex-wife, physician Heo Yang-im, are locked in conflict after presenting conflicting claims regarding visitation rights and child support for their son. In this context, Heo drew attention by publicly sharing daily life footage with her son.
On Wednesday, Heo uploaded a video titled "Heo Yang-im Vlog 004" to her YouTube channel 'Kkokkeu Deu Heo Yang-im'.
The video featured Heo Yang-im attending a conference on obesity-related issues and daily moments with her son Seung-jae. After dining out, the two watched fireworks at home.
As Seung-jae said, "It's beautiful," while watching the fireworks, Heo replied, "I feel like I'm dreaming about fireworks, so I love it."
On the day the video was released, Ko's side announced that they had filed an application for a temporary injunction to prohibit interference with visitation rights and the posting of photos or videos of their child against Heo Yang-im.
Ko's side claimed that since their consensual divorce in April 2024, they have met their son only about six times over approximately two years. They stated that shortly after the divorce, Ko's health deteriorated due to liver cirrhosis, liver disease complications, and shock, but after recovering, he expressed his intention to meet his son; however, visitation has not proceeded smoothly.
Furthermore, despite regularly paying child support, they argued that Heo is preventing them from meeting their son and that exposing the child for hospital promotions is problematic.
Conversely, Heo's side holds a different position. They claim that Ko delayed visitation schedules first and failed to pay child support properly.
YouTuber Lee Jin-ho asserted that although both parties agreed during their divorce that Ko would pay 1.89 million won in child support monthly, actual payments were made only twice this year, in August and September. Unpaid child support amounts to approximately 40 million won, which rises to about 50 million won including interest.
It was also reported that Heo's side filed a lawsuit demanding child support payment along with an application for property attachment on the 5th. However, Heo has not yet issued a specific official statement regarding this matter.
Ko and Heo married in 2013 and had their son Seung-jae. They appeared together on KBS2's variety program "The Return of Superman." The two divorced by mutual consent in 2024.
