SOOP announced on the 31st that it recorded revenue of 103.8 billion won, operating profit of 12.6 billion won, and net income attributable to owners of SOOP of 8.7 billion won for the second quarter. Revenue decreased by 11.2% compared to the same period last year, while operating profit fell by 57.9%.
In the second quarter, SOOP focused its efforts on creating a platform environment where streamers and users connect through content. To strengthen its proprietary content competitiveness, it operated ASL and GSL, long-running e-sports leagues representing "StarCraft" and "StarCraft II," respectively. In major categories such as gaming, sports, music, and virtual, it expanded touchpoints for communication by linking tournaments with original content and offline LINE events.
It also strengthened ecosystem support. It expanded growth programs that lower entry barriers at the start of broadcasting activities and provide support in equipment, production, and promotion tailored to activity stages and categories. It also reorganized its support system to enable stable activities and fan community formation across various categories, including virtual streamers.
SOOP plans to focus on expanding new user inflow and increasing the activity level of existing users in the second half of the year. To this end, it is preparing a system where existing streamers directly discover and nurture new streamers, as well as a "Performance Certification System" based on activities and achievements. The plan aims to create a structure for self-driven growth among streamers and inject vitality into the donation economy ecosystem.
On the service side, SOOP will proceed with UI/UX revisions to allow users to access services more easily and conveniently while gaining new content experiences. It also plans to enhance features such as AI-based personalized recommendations, subtitle translation, and chat translation to improve user convenience and lower language barriers for global users.
To diversify revenue streams, SOOP will launch an integrated marketing consulting brand that combines the capabilities of SOOP and its advertising and marketing affiliates. While maintaining each company's expertise, it plans to respond to the market through a unified brand to enhance business competitiveness and expand the scale of platform advertising. Furthermore, in the long term, it intends to provide more benefits to users and build a foundation for streamers and brands to grow together.
