KT has partnered with Seoul City, the police, and a science museum to launch education covering AI technology, ethics, and digital crime prevention for elementary school students. The plan is to expand this educational model, which combines private-sector AI technology with public infrastructure, nationwide.
KT announced on the 23rd that it held the 'KT-Seoul City AI Future Camp' for 100 elementary school students at the Seoul Robot Artificial Intelligence Museum in Dobong-gu, Seoul, on the 22nd, in collaboration with Seoul City, the Seoul Robot Artificial Intelligence Museum, and the Seoul Dobong Police Station.
A total of 100 elementary school students from the Seoul area participated in the camp. The students were divided into four groups of 25 each and rotated through five programs focused on AI technology and ethics, robot experiences, and crime prevention.
KT conducted AI technology and ethics education using its mobile AI experience center, 'AI Station.' Through 'AICE Future,' a block coding program linked to the AI certification exam 'AICE,' students also learned how AI systems work.
At the Seoul Robot Artificial Intelligence Museum, visitors received guided tours of the exhibition 'Thinking Robots and Questioning Humans' and participated in an experience at the 'Picabot Art Gallery,' where robot arms were used to draw pictures. The Seoul Dobong Police Station educated participants on crime cases involving AI and digital safety rules to follow in daily life.
This camp is notable for moving beyond a model where companies alone provide educational programs, instead combining infrastructure and expertise held by local governments, public science museums, and the police. KT plans to expand public-private partnership-type AI education linked with public science museums, local governments, and public institutional investors through this collaboration with Seoul City.
Since 2023, KT has been operating AI and digital ethics education for elementary and middle school students in cooperation with national and local education offices and local governments. By the end of 2025, approximately 170,000 people are expected to have participated in the programs. To reduce the AI education gap in remote areas, KT is also conducting mobile education using AI Station and AICE.
Lee Jeong-woo, KT ESG Chu Jin-dam-dang (SVP), stated, "In the AI era, having a mindset that responsibly utilizes technology is just as important as the ability to handle it," adding, "We hope this program becomes an opportunity for children to learn both AI technology and ethics together and grow into future talents."
Jeon Jae-myung, Acting Director of Seoul City Gyeong Je (Head), said, "This collaborative project combines Seoul City's public infrastructure, KT's technology, and the police's expertise in crime prevention," and announced, "We plan to continue expanding cooperation with the private sector to provide opportunities for citizens, including teenagers, to safely utilize advanced technologies."
