버락 오바마 미국 대통령은 오늘 공적자금이 투입된 금융기관의 임원 연봉을 50만 달러로 제한했습니다.
오바마 대통령:
top executives at firms receiving extraordinary help from US taxpayers will have their compensation capped at 500-thousand dollars - a fraction of the salaries that have been reported recently. And if these executives receive any additional compensation it will come in the form of stock that can't be paid up until taxpayers are paid back for their assistance. (공적자금이 투입된 금융사의 경우, 최고경영진들의 보수를 50만 달러로 제한하겠습니다. 자사주 형태의 추가보수는 인정하겠지만 그것도 공적자금을 모두 갚을때 까지는 현금화할 수 없도록 하겠습니다.)/
전 세계인들을 힘들게 하는 금융위기의 주범인데도 부끄러움조차 모른다는 질책인 셈입니다.
오바마 대통령:
this is the height of irresponsibility. It's shameful. And that's exactly the kind of disregard for the costs and consequences of their actions that brought about this crisis: a culture of narrow self-interest and short-term gain at the expense of everything else."
